GREYHOUNDS AS COMPANIONS
Because of their calm nature, Greyhounds are generally great with children, the elderly and disabled people. As they do not require large amounts of exercise and prefer lounging around at home, they make great companions.
They are sighthounds and have a strong chase drive, so great care should be given around cats and smaller animals. However, with the help of a qualified, reward-based trainer, many can overcome this and happily co-exist with smaller animals.
It is always advisable to ensure that you accept guidance from the Rehoming Centre as to the individual dog’s personality traits.
Many rehomed Greyhounds go on to make great Blood Donors due to their size and temperament, and therapy dogs due to their fantastic nature.

FEEDING YOUR RETIRED GREYHOUND
In training, Greyhounds are generally fed a very high protein diet to help strengthen and develop muscles. When retired, they lose this requirement and if you continue to feed a ‘racing’ diet, it could lead to unnecessary weight gain.
Another thing to be aware of is that because of their height, they make great counter surfers! With training, they can learn not to steal food but always ensure you keep items out of ‘nose’ and ‘paw’ reach, especially if they can cause harm to your Greyhound.
Chudleys Pet Greyhound food is exclusively and proudly made in partnership with Greyhound Trust, with a donation of £1.50 made directly to Greyhound Trust with every bag purchased.
